Let me just preface this by saying that I sometimes make drunken mistakes. I will be the first to admit that I can sometimes get a little carried away when I've been drinking, but I always make sure to apologize (if needed) or just talk it out the next day so things aren't left awkward. I also admit that when I've been drinking I have a slight tendency toward being affectionate or amorous towards members of the opposite sex.
Oh, let's just get real here: I'm kind of slutty when I drink. I get horny when I drink. There. I said it.
I know I'm not the only one.
Even so, I've never had any sort of drunken fling with a good friend. Ever. I draw the line there, and I refuse to cross or get within a hundred-yard radius of it.
One of my friends, Alice, has a problem with this.
Tale 3: The Girl Who Got Around
I met Alice through a class and mutual friends. There's a big group of us that hangs out together frequently, so I've had a lot of contact with her, and we sometimes have lunch and talk and whatnot.
What I've learned from the short moments we have together (and from various other sources) is that Alice makes bad decisions. She makes decisions that negatively affect several people that she hangs out with, and she never seems to understand that the decisions she make sometimes hurt those people.
The big example goes like this:
Part I
Alice and I have this friend, Aiden, who I know for a fact really likes Alice. Alice has put him in the Friend Zone, though, so he's never going to get out of there. It's kind of sad, really, knowing that he adores her and she barely looks at him in that romantic way.
Aiden is also a complete dumbass, because he allows himself to be strung along by the single solitary hope that Alice will notice him as something more than a friend.
But that's never going to happen, because life isn't a fairy tale, and shit like that only happens in movies and fiction novels (or both, judging by the way Hollywood gets their ideas for films now).
As it is, Aiden keeps allowing himself to be pulled under Alice's spell. It's annoying to watch, especially when I know what Alice has done with certain people.
But Aiden is only the first part.
Part II
Aiden, Alice, and I all have the same friends. In particular, I'm going to talk about Geoffrey, whom I've introduced before, and Brad, a new character in this story of my life.
Brad is a year older than me, so I've had a longer time to know him than Aiden and Alice have (Alice is new, and Aiden is a transfer). I know more about him than Alice does, and I know about certain things in his personal life that not many people know.
Brad, like me, gets frisky when he's drunk.
This is a problem, as far as Alice is concerned.
At Brad's birthday party back in November, Brad and Alice ended up making out for a good while after they had each had a few Jell-O shots and regular shots and, in Brad's case, a keg stand. It was one of those drunken things, but it definitely changed the dynamic of our circle of friends, because we had all witnessed two people that we care about go at it against a wall at a party. It was.. strange, to say the least.
We all eventually got over it, and Brad even started dating another friend of ours named Khloe (it didn't last very long, but it was still nice to see them both happy for however short a time).
Last Saturday, though, things got weird again.
We were all drinking at Brad's apartment, partially celebrating our friend Mallorie's birthday, and Alice and Brad started a flirtation with one another. Before we all got too drunk, I took Brad aside and I made him promise me that he wouldn't do anything stupid with Alice, because I didn't want him to do anything he regretted the next morning. He promised he would not do anything stupid with Alice, and that I had nothing to worry about.
That lasted until about 3:30 AM.
We ended up going to a friend of a friend's apartment party closer to downtown for about an hour, where both Brad and Alice drank even more, before heading back to Brad's so that Aiden could drink with us (he offered to be DD for a little bit, but we didn't want him to have to stay sober the whole night).
Maybe 20 minutes after we got back and started mixing more drinks, I noticed Alice get a bit more handsy and flirtatious with Brad. I knew that if she kept that up, it wouldn't be long before Brad would be breaking his promise and fucking Alice seven ways to Sunday.
I did my best to keep them apart, I really did, but Alice proves even more stubborn when she's drunk, and she just wouldn't let go of Brad's hand the entire time she was falling all over him.
I eventually just stopped trying and went to lie on the couch for a little bit.
I woke up at about 5-something, and I noticed that Mallorie and one of my best friends Stacy had fallen asleep like I had, Mal in the chair next to the couch, and Stacy next to me on the couch. Aiden, Alice, and Brad were suspiciously absent from the room.
I heard them giggling and trying to stay quiet in Brad's room, which shares a wall with the living room of Brad's apartment. I figured that nothing had happened since Aiden was in the room being a third wheel, but then I thought of how awkward that must be for him.
Think about it for a second from Aiden's point of view: The girl you like, one of your best friends, is sitting on a friend's bed with you and that friend, and she's flirting and touching the other guy profusely, while you have no choice but to sit and watch it happen.
I heard Aiden say that he was going to get some water.
As soon as Aiden entered the living room, no sounds were heard from Brad's room.
Gross.
I was just disgusted with both Alice and Brad from that point on.
Another one bites the dust, I suppose.
Brad isn't the first guy with whom she's had a fling. She briefly dated Geoffrey last semester. It was the shortest and most hostile relationship I'd ever witnessed.
She and Geoffrey had sex within two weeks of them getting together.
If she fucked Brad, I was going to personally rip her a new one.
I just feel like she's poison for our group of friends. Caisey agrees with me, but I don't think it's for the same reasoning I do. She's a little too emotionally invested in Geoffrey to make any unbiased decisions.
As for the girl who got around... Brad told me later that they didn't fuck. They just fooled around on his bed for a little bit.
I'm still sickened by that.
Does Brad have no self-control?
Does Alice?
When will it stop?
